There are a lot of questions about Mahomes heading into this season, but aside from that this roster still isn't terrible. Signing the Superbowl MVP addresses their run game issues from last season, and without McDuffie still have an above average defense. If Mahomes is healthy by week 4, this team can finish above 500

The league has forgotten about Mahomes I guess. Yes the defense has questions, but Mahomes has a healthy lineup around him. The addition of Kenneth Walker III will change this offense big time, as Mahomes was the leading rusher on this team halfway through last year.

The Chiefs went 6-11 last year, averaging just 19.3 PPG, with Mahomes posting a career-low 3,587 yards, 22 TDs and 11 INTs. Now he’s coming off an ACL tear, while losing Trent McDuffie creates another major question on defense. Mahomes can obviously change this projection, but this offense has lost a step and I’m not ready to assume they’re back among the AFC elite. 8-9 feels right.
